Glam camping really doesn’t do glamping justice. You see, it’s not just camping for those who squeal at the sight of a nylon tent and can’t face cold showers in the morning. Today, glamping is a luxury experience with all the home comforts plus a little more.

Forget about canvas tents too as glampers can now choose from treehouses, shepherd’s hut, cabins with hot tubs and more. And we’ve even done the hard work for you by pulling together the best glamping sites in the UK.

Cadland Estate’s Pop Up Hotel

A bed in a tent with a view of the ocean.

Where is it? New Forest

Best for? Beachfront stays

Cost: £££££

Sitting just a few steps away from the beach on New Forest’s south coast, these safari-style tents make for a great staycation. With a team that goes above and beyond, incredible views of the sea and luxury cabins, you really are in for a treat. And if you’re looking for something to do, there’s a clifftop restaurant and plenty of watersports to try your hand at. In the evening, sit outside your hut, listen to the waves and watch the sunset.

The Paddock Wildcamp

A green grassy area near the ocean.

Where is it? Cornwall

Best for? Watersports lovers

Cost: £

Ideally located for all the nearby surfing spots like Perran Sands, Newquay and Fistral Sands, this pop-up glamping site offers everything you need and more. For those who prefer staying on dry land, there’s plenty to do and see too, and if you just want to relax back at the accommodation you won’t be disappointed either. Think modern bell tents, wicker hampers filled with all the goods, double beds and a communal kitchen area.

Parkhall Pods

A hot tub on the deck of a house.

Where is it? Derbyshire

Best for? First-time campers

Cost: ££

These contemporary pods are so far away from camping that they’re almost like a hotel. They come with a fitted kitchen, shower room and large living space. Outside, you’ll find a hot tub, campfire and spacious seating area too. Plus, you’re bang in the middle of the Derbyshire countryside which makes for a fantastic day exploring before heading back to your digs…

Chesters Country Retreats

Where is it? The Scottish Borders

Best for? Far-away destination feels

Cost: £££

Seriously, this glamping site might be on the Scottish Borders but it looks like it’s just fallen out of a safari. Situated in over 1,500 acres of greenland, with plenty of wildlife roaming around, these wooden safari-style lodges offer all the mod-cons plus a canopied outdoors area great for watching the stars. Close by, you’ll find a gastro pub, restaurant and farm shop – which might take away the safari feeling but are still worth a visit.

Brook House Woods

Where is it? Herefordshire

Best for? Couples looking for an adults-only break

Cost: £££

Choose from a luxury treehouse, yurt or hobbit house at this adults-only glamping site. Or, if you’re looking for an extra special stay, why not opt for the giant ball-shaped red tent that hangs from the trees? It even has a glass roof, ideal for stargazing. There’s plenty of activities for all ages and budgets too and spending a day exploring the Malvern Hills should definitely be a priority.

Crafty camping

A tree house in the middle of the woods.

Where is it? Dorset

Best for? Unique accommodation with alfresco dining

Cost: ££££

When we say this site is good for alfresco dining, we don’t mean eating out of a tin that’s been heated on the campfire. Accommodation here has a BBQ and pizza oven on the rear deck. Plus, inside, you’ll find luxurious copper baths, huge beds and a few added luxuries. There’s a reason the treehouse on this site is RIBA-award-winning.

Kudhva

A wooden house in the woods with a swing.

Where is it? Cornwall

Best for? Those looking for something special

Cost: £££

Raised high on wooden stilts, these cabins boast floor-to-ceiling windows, an outside terrace and mezzanine bed. When you’re ready to explore the local area, the site offers a hot tub and bar and there’s plenty of activities to enjoy too. The site does only open for 28 days every year though so if you want to enjoy it, you better hurry.

Camp Katur

A glass dome in the middle of a wooded area.

Where is it? North Yorkshire

Best for? Exploring the local area

Cost: ££

This site has three separate areas for visitors to choose from, which consist of The Meadow (ideal if you want to shut off from the world), Hill Farm (best for stargazing and watching the sunsets) and Chestnut Hill (boasting luxury family-friendly huts). Nestled in the Yorkshire Dales, there’s plenty to do and see here as well as on-site activities for all ages.

Eco Retreats

A dome filled with bean bags and plants.

Where is it? Powys, Wales

Best for? A quiet retreat to relax in

Cost: £££

Hidden within the Dyfi Forest and at the end of Snowdonia is this quaint glamping site that houses five tipis and yurts. With 40 acres of fields and woodland to explore, a trip here will be a quiet one but enjoyable nevertheless. And, if you really want to be at one with nature, there’s a wood-fired bath outside.

The Tree Howf

A room with a bed and a stove in it.

Where is it? Perthshire, Scotland

Best for? Getting the full outdoors experience

Cost: ££££

Built around a huge – and very old – ash tree, this impressive rural tree house is home to a handmade king-sized bed, fire pit, balcony, stargazing window and BBQ. Pack your bags with some bubbly, take some of your favourite treats and prepare for a night under the stars putting the world to right. It really doesn’t get better than this.
