The best locations for a hot tub break in Wiltshire

Uncover the captivating beauty of Wiltshire, a county teeming with enchanting landscapes, ancient monuments, and picturesque market towns. Selecting the ideal spot for your hot tub break is merely the beginning of your unforgettable Wiltshire adventure…

Amesbury

Just two miles from Stonehenge and slightly over a mile from Woodhenge, the town of Amesbury sits on the River Avon and boasts a rich and colourful past. In the town itself, there’s a weekly market, a museum, and plenty of pubs and cafes, as well as accommodation options for those exploring Wiltshire. Amesbury is surrounded by countryside walks which are a great way to see some of the oldest attractions including the Abbey which is said to have been built in the 15th century.

Swindon

As one of the most modern towns in Wiltshire, Swindon boasts lots of shopping opportunities, family-favourite restaurants and bars, parks and gardens, museums and an art gallery. It’s also ideally located for exploring Wiltshire’s countryside and attractions. As well as this, there is the Old Town which was actually mentioned in the Domesday Book and is an impressive contrast from Swindon’s contemporary area. Those looking to visit Wiltshire but in search of a town that has a little more going on, should consider Swindon.

Salisbury

A city in the countryside, Salisbury has been attracting visitors since 1227. The Cathedral is the main focus where old age history is brought to life through modern events and activities. There are plenty of museums with family-friendly workshops throughout the year. And those who prefer shopping or dining out won’t be bored either. The ancient streets house a range of names – from independent brands to high-street favourites. Twice a week the Charter Market sets up selling a range of local produce and goods. What better place to stock up and take something back for a feast in your Wiltshire hot tub break?

Castle Combe

A quintessential English village, Castle Combe is regularly described as the prettiest village in England. It’s situated in the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the Cotswolds and the village has even featured in a number of films including War Horse, The Wolf Man and Stardust. Once here, you can enjoy the slow-paced village lifestyle, as well as a couple of pubs and an impressive golf course. There’s also a Market Cross and church which date back to the 13th century. As you’re so close to the countryside, there are several walking routes and cycling trails too.

Chippenham

One of the West Country’s most charming towns, Chippenham sits on the banks of the River Avon and is a great choice if you want to combine rest with exploration. It’s an ideal base for visiting Wiltshire and even Bath which is only 10 minutes away by train. The market town has a great atmosphere day and night – and has even been granted Purple Flag status for the nightlife. Once here, you can enjoy shopping, museums, parks, play areas and a weekly market.

The best activities in Wiltshire

Stonehenge

One of Wiltshire’s most known attractions, which visitors flock to from all over the world, has to be Stonehenge. It sits in Salisbury Plain and is a prehistoric monument of standing stones. It’s believed to be over 5000 years old and the story behind it differs depending on who you ask. Some scientists believe the site to be a burial and others say the stones were used to tell the time. Either way, it makes for a great day out and the countryside views are impressive too.

Swindon Designer Outlet

Maybe you want something new to wear to one of the local award-winning pubs? Or perhaps you just fancy a little retail therapy? Swindon Designer Outlet is home to more than 100 designer stores selling everything from sportswear to kidswear. The best part about it is that everything costs less than it would on the high street. For those who don’t fancy it, there are several cafes and restaurants on-site to keep you entertained.

Cookery School

Waitrose isn’t just an upmarket shop in Salisbury, it’s also a cookery school! Choose from a variety of classes including those that focus on fish, gnocchi, pastry, sushi and even Caribbean food and get ready to learn some new skills. There are even classes for adults and children so it can be an event for the whole family. Led by an expert chef, this is a fun indoor activity – especially when the British weather isn’t on your side.

Castle Combe Race Circuit

Have you got a need for speed? Castle Combe Race Circuit is sure to scratch the itch. For the past 70 years, motorsports fans have been coming here to enjoy racing events, car shows and to try out their driving skills. With experiences for the kids too, it’s a great day out for the whole group. And, if you fancy staying on solid ground, there are plenty of seating areas and impressive views!
